A best friend with Willow since their childhood, Xander has found himself pursuing the wrong women. He got the 'just friends' from Buffy early on in their relationship, he nearly became a late night snack to a she-mantis teacher, he fell for an Inca mummy and by kissing Willow, he ended up cheating on the one solid love interest that he had in high school, Cordelia. At one point he even had a quickie with unstable and bloodthirsty Slayer Faith.

Although Xander was engaged to one-time (and once again) demon Anya, their relationship didn't exactly start on what many would consider to be a stable platform. Even though Xander and Anya went to prom together, when Anya returned to Sunnydale her intentions were to seduce Xander so that she could get him out of her mind. To her disappointment, the two fell in love and had, despite their lack of common ground, an interesting relationship.  When Buffy disappeared at the beginning of their senior year, Xander was hurt and Buffy's lack of caring nearly resulted in a fistfight between the two.  So her death hit him hard causing the bond between him and Anya to grow stronger as her leaned that much more on her for strength to carry on with the good fight.

He has been instrumental in aiding Buffy in her adjustments to her mother's death, her own death and subsequent resurection, her parenting of Dawn, and dealing with Willows "problem".  Tension rose between him and Anya as their wedding grew closer.  After being dupped by one of Anya's former victims Xander dissapeared from their wedding but returned in time to help save Anya's life from her victim in his true form.  He then told Anya that he just wasn't ready for marriage and dissapeared for a couple of months.

Loyal wiseass of the Scooby Gang, Alexander LaVelle Harris has tried to keep good spirits within the gang despite his questionable home life.

Born and raised in Sunnydale, Xander was never much of a student because he lacked academic discipline. On that note, he decided to forgo entering UC Sunnydale with the rest of the crew. Instead, he has taken jobs that range from selling ice cream from an ice cream truck, to bartending, to his true calling of working in construction.

Despite his poor schoolwork, he has proven on many occasions to be an irreplaceable addition to the team. Xander often shows his deep loyalty to the mission. For instance, he took on the role of "Nighthawk," and tried to keep things sane in Sunnydale while Buffy was missing at the beginning of his senior year in high school.

Their relationship has been even more stressed since they both returned.  Particularily since Willow, Xander, Buffy and Dawn saw Anya and Spike getting busy on the table at the Magic Shop. 

Since finding out about Spike's attempted rape of Buffy he has become obsessed with killing him.  He has had to be the strong one for most of this season dispite his wanting to be able to lean on someone else. 

Between Willow going Psycho, Buffy in a questionable relationship with Spike and discovering that Anya is once again a vengance demon he hasn't had time to relax or sort through his emotions.
